The practice of: Recognizing means consciously acknowledging, in any given moment, the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are affecting us. Allowing means letting the thoughts, emotions, sensations, or feelings we have recognized simply be there, without trying to fix or avoid anything. To Investigate, call on your natural curiosity-the desire to know truth-and direct a more focused attention to your present experience. Nurture by sensing what the hurting place inside you most needs, then offering some gesture of active care that might address this need.
You will be guided in heart practices that include, loving kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, gratitude, forgiveness, and generosity.
Meditation can be used as a valuable tool for personal and spiritual growth using the fundamental guiding principles of mindfulness practice informed by the findings of neuroscience. A mindfulness practice can focus on different aspects of the human experience by developing mindfulness of breath, body, emotions, and thoughts. Practices can be incorporated at home, at work, and in other activities.
You have a soothing voice and it was much easier to sit peacefully learning how to meditate than I expected it would be. I appreciated the background history of meditation. Thank you for the mindful eating lesson. Just slow down, enjoy the food and each other’s company.
